Bring the authentic taste of Italy to your garden with the San Marzano Lampadina 2. This indeterminate heirloom variety is renowned as the ultimate sauce tomato, prized for its dense, meaty texture, low seed count, and incredible flavor. The unique "lightbulb" shaped fruits are perfect for canning, pastes, and rich sauces because they have very low water content.
These vigorous plants are prolific producers that reach mature heights of over six feet, so they will require strong staking or caging for support. You can expect to begin harvesting approximately 80 days from transplanting. Each packet contains about 25 seeds, which should be started indoors 4 to 6 weeks before your last expected frost.
For the best results, sow seeds 1/4 inch deep and transplant them outdoors once the soil has warmed. Space the plants 24 to 36 inches apart in a location that receives full sun and has well-draining, fertile soil. Harvest your tomatoes when they turn a deep, vibrant red and yield slightly to the touch.
